Mayor Earl Isaacs presented a proclamation to Alyssa Ritchie, State Champion in Tennis, this 26th day of October to be Alyssa Ritchie day in Waynesville. The Mayor recognized Alyssa for her outstanding achievement in winning the Division II State Singles Tournament on Saturday. The Mayor presented the proclamation in a surprise assembly on Monday morning to Alyssa at the High school in front of the entire student body.

Ritchie defeated Lexington sophomore Courtney Earnest 6-4, 5-7, 6-1 in the finals at the Elysium Tennis Center in Plain City. Alyssa was honored during a surprise assembly this morning at WHS!!

H1N1 vaccines will be given this Thursday, October 22nd in the Elementary Cafeteria. THIS NOTICE ONLY APPLIES TO THOSE STUDENTS WITH PRIOR PARENTAL CONSENTS. AM Kindergarten, AM Preschoolers, and High School students will be vaccinated from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.

Grades 1-5, PM Kindergarten, and Middle School students will be vaccinated starting at 1 p.m. until all students have been vaccinated (approximately 4-4:30 p.m.). Middle School parents wanting to be present for their child's vaccination should arrive at 2:30 p.m. Elementary parents wanting to be present for their child's vaccination should arrive at 3:30 p.m.

Wayne Local Schools Celebrates 43rd Annual School Bus Safety Week.

October 19, 2009 – In honor of national School Bus Safety Week, I want to say thank
you to our transportation staff for their efforts and highlight the importance of school bus
safety awareness and education.

This year’s theme, Avoid Harm, Obey the Stop Arm, emphasizes the importance for
drivers to follow the rules of the road. The safety of our students is top priority. When
red lights flash and the stop sign and arm deploy all states require drivers to stop.

Breeze, a beautiful, gentle therapy dog will be joining Anna Frank, our physical therapist, as she works with students this year. Breeze will be helping students to meet their physical therapy goals. She will also be getting to know many students and staff as she travels around our school campus with Mrs. Frank. Breeze is friendly, patient, and at ease with children and teens.
