130 DARE Graduates Take the Pledge

All 130 5th grade students graduated from DARE, a program sponsored by the Warren County Sheriff's office, taught by Deputy Benny Dunaway. DARE stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education.  Dignitaries attending the ceremony were Sgt. Renee Larson, Captain Barry Riley, Chief John Newsom, Waynesville Chief Gary Copeland, and Waynesville Mayor, Earl Isaacs.  Essay winners included Bruce Allen, Parker Boring, Mason Callahan, Adyson Camp, Sarah Jones, Megan Jordan, Austin Lamb, Reagan Metzler, Haley Price, and Skylar Staley.  Leading the Pledge of Allegiance were Mikayla Schmidt and Jake Van Atta. Students in Mrs. Melissa Ferguson's Social Studies classes have been learning about making wise choices, the dangers of drugs, alcohol, and smoking, and how to say 'no.'  We want to thank all of our parents and PTO for donating food and drinks to our reception and especially Mrs. Stacy Felumlee, who baked/decorated our cake.  For more photos visit the Elementary Photo Gallery.
