Spartans in Playoffs tonight!!!!!!
The Waynesville Football team will travel to Jonathan Alder High School tonight (Friday) for their fourth straight appearance in the OHSAA playoffs. The Spartans go in with a record of 8-2 and Alder has a record of 9-1. Game time is 7:30 and presale tickets are available at Eliis Hometown Marketplace until 12 today and at the High School office until 1:00.

Lady Spartans Basketball gearing up!!!
The Lady Spartans Basketball team has been practicing for a week and will have their first scrimmage at home on Saturday at 10:00a.m. vs Wilmington and Eastern Brown. Waynesville will also be at home with a scrimmage vs Kettering Alter on Wednesday at 4:00
Boys Basketball starting up!!!
The Boys Basketball team will be starting up this Saturday under new head coach Todd Cook. The boys will have their first scrimmage next Saturday.
Swim Team begins!!!
The Swim team will begin practice on Monday, November 8th. Anyone interested in participating should contact the High School office.

Waynesville Clinches Playoff Spot!!!!
Unofficially the Waynesville Football team clinched the 7th seed in the Region 16 Division IV football playoffs. Waynesville went 8-2 on the season and will be traveling next Friday night November 5th to Plain City Jonathon Alder. Game time will be 7:30.
Tickets will be available in the High School office beginning on Tuesday and at Ellis Hometown Marketplace.
The official pairing s will be out on Sunday on the OHSAA website

Ritchie at State!!!!!
Alyssa Ritchie is playing this morning at the State Tennis Tournament in Columbus. Ritchie repeated as District Champion last weekend and is now within four matches of becoming a 2 time State Champion in Tennis. Ritchie's first match will be at 9:00a.m. Today and updates will be posted on the Wayne-Local website as results are available.
Spartans Finish 2nd and 3rd at SWBL Championships!!!!!!!
This past weekend the cross country teams competed in the SWBL Championship at Franklin. For the JH girls Emily Gill placed 8th and Jamie Reeves placed 12th out of 94 runners. The JH boys team of Luke Paxson, Dustin Baker, Logan Fruhwirth, Jeffery Konen, and Marshall Dutton finished in 8th place as a team in the 14 team league.
The HS men's team all ran their best race of the year but still came in behind strong Milton Union and Dixie teams to finish in 3rd place. In the 186 man race the Spartans were lead by Spencer Wells in 4th with a blazing time 17:14. He was followed by Cade Lowing in 5th at 17:39, Steven Jefferies in 11th at 18:03, Joe Feldmann in 19th at 18:46, Evan Parish in 21st at 18:56, Matt Hussey in 23rd at 19:13, Kurtis Sexton in 28th at 20:20, and Andrew Hammill in 50th. First team All-SWBL honors go to Spenser Wells and Cade Lowing. 2nd team All-SWBL honors to Steven Jefferies and Joe Feldmannn and SWBL honorable mention honors to Evan Parish.
For the HS women's team the girls all ran their best race of the year as well and finished 2nd to very tough Milton Union by only 6 points. The Lady Spartans were lead by Shelby Cook in 4th place with a time of 20:53. She was followed by Brittany Patterson in 9th at 22:25, Jerusha Crossgrove in 11th at 22:41, Molli Muterspaw in 13th at 22:50, Madison Hartshorn in 15th at 23:01 and Leighanne Dyer in 16th at 23:02. First team All-league honors go to Shelby Cook and Brittany Patterson. Second team All-league honors go to Jerusha Crossgrove, Molli Muterspaw, Madison Hartshorn and Leighanne Dyer. Congratulations to all the SWBL honorees. The high school teams will compete in the district meet this Saturday starting at 12:20 at the Miami Valley Career Tech Center in Clayton. Spartans Football Roll on Senior Night!!!!
The Seniors were recognized before the game and the team came out and scored the first 21 points of the game. Junior Matt Hussey scored all 3 of those touchdowns, one rushing and 2 receiving in the first quarter. The offense was able to throw and run with outstanding offensive line play, led by senior Josh Powell. The offense was led by QB Luke Creditt who broke the school record for most yards passing in a game with 354 and 5 TD's. He also broke the single season passing record with 1658 yards so far this season. Ty Black led the receiving corp with 6 receptions and 165 yards. The defense only gave up 6 first downs the entire game and was led by Chase Gianattasio with 10 tackles. The football team will travel to Milton Union tonight in hope of keeping the playoff chances alive. Come out and support your SPARTANS!
Football Playoff Update!!!!
The Spartans are in the 8th and final position playoff spot going into week # 9 at Milton Union. If the Spartans win the remaining two games the team should be playing in the first round of the playoffs on Friday, November 5th. Updates will be on the Wayne-Local website.
Volleyball ends Season!!
The Lady Spartan Volleyball team won the first round of the sectional tournament last Saturday by defeating Clark Montessori. The Spartans lost on Thursday to Greeneview.
Boys Soccer season ends!!
The varsity soccer team fell 0-4 Thursday night to #3 State-ranked Summit Country Day School. The Spartans held Summit 0-1 through the first half in a competitive battle. Waynesville gave up 3 goals in the second half after playing a higher-risk formation in an effort to even the score. The Spartans, led by seniors Mike Ewing, Mike Forward, Tanner Hopwood, Marco Lechuga, Luke Wylie, Mason Wisecup, Zach Mohme, and Jon Burgimeier, finished the season with a 13-3-1 record and a 1st place finish in the SWBL. It should be noted that 11 of the 13 wins were consecutive-wins which set a new WHS record! Congratulations to Coach Stubbs the 2010 Waynesville Spartans on a league winning and record setting season!
Girls Soccer wins first round!!!!
The #1 seeded Girls Soccer team defeated Tri-County North on Tuesday by a score of 7-0. The team will be in action on Saturday night at Waynesville vs Xenia Christian at 7:00. Ticket prices are $6 and no passes a will be accepted. Updates for time and place of next contest if the Lady Spartans win on Saturday will be on the website.

Ritchie Qualifies for State!!!!!!
Alyssa Ritchie continued on her quest for a second State Tennis Championship in Singles by winning two matches in the Districts at Centerville on Thursday. Ritchie will play Saturday morning at 8:00a.m. for the seeding positions in the State tourney next weekend.
The State will be next Friday, October 22nd at 9:00a.m. at the Stickney Tennis Center at Ohio State and on Saturday at 9:00a.m. at Hillard Davidson High School
Football Defeats Oakwood!!!!!
Waynesville Varsity Football finally beat Oakwood at Mack Hummon Field last Friday. The game was back and forth until the second half when the team took advantage of some costly mistakes and won 45 to 35. The Spartans had a great showing and were able to stay alive in the playoff hunt. The offense was led by Luke Creditt, throwing for 299 yards (which is a new school record) and 4 touchdowns. He completed the touchdowns to Chase Gianattasio, Matt Hussey, and Ryan Potter had 2 TD's. Creditt also rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown as well as Matt Lindsey ran for 112 yards and a touchdown. Caleb Keeton made a 31 yard field goal and was perfect on his 6 PAT attempts. The defense was led by Chase Gianattasio with 10 tackles and Isaac Hammonds with 8. The Spartans play their final home game this Friday against Northridge. Come out and support the team and watch the Seniors last home game! The 10 senior football players being recognized are Chase Gianattasio, Caleb Powers, Ryan Potter, Josh Powell, Michael Hanauer, Joey Tweel, Nick Jones, Tyler Caplinger, Jacob Back, and Andrew Shutts.
Parents Night tonight!!!!!!
The Football game tonight with Northridge will be parent's night for all of the Senior Athletes and Band Members that have performed for the Spartans over the years. The introductions will begin at 6:55.
All parents should arrive by 6:30. Also at halftime we will be honoring Dave Liffick for his 35 years of coaching Boys Golf at Waynesville.
Soccer teams prepare for Tournament action!!!
The Boys Soccer team defeated Dixie on Thursday by a score of 2-0. The Boys won the SWBL Buckeye Division in route to a 13 - 2 -1 record on the year. Cross Country in SWBL Championships on Saturday!!!!!!!
The Boys and Girls Cross Country team will be in action at Franklin on Saturday, October 16th in the SWBL Championship. The meet will be at Franklin Community Park on Rt 123 in Franklin. The first event will be at 9:30a.m. Admission will be $5 per person!!!!!
Lady Spartans Volleyball !!!
The Volleyball team lost to Dixie on Tuesday. Hilary Rains had 16 assists, Danielle Ooten had 9 kills, Calli Dahnke had 5 aces, and Kasey Parrish chalked up 15 digs. On Wednesday, they lost to a tough Clinton Massie team. Stat leaders were Rains with 7 assists and 4 kills, and Parrish with 5 digs and 2 aces. Thursday was the last regular season match. The Spartans played hard on Senior Night, but fell to a strong Oakwood team. Senior Hilary Rains had 5 assists and 4 digs, and Senior Kelsey Hubbell had 2 kills. Great job, Seniors!!
The Volleyball team will be in tournament play on Saturday October 16th, at 4:30. The game will be at Blanchester High School and the opponent will be Clark Montessori.
Waynesville Spartan Senior Baseball Player, Joey Tweel, was named an
"All Tournament Player" in the 2010 CABA (Continental Amateur Baseball
Assoc.) 17U World Series Tournament held in Millington, Tennessee near
Memphis.
Pitching for Springboro's Kinect Nationals in the Quarter Finals of the
Championship Round, Joey pitched a 3 hit game against the Number 1 seed
Dulins Dodgers leading the Nationals to a 1-0 win over the Dodgers. The
win advanced the Nationals in the semi-finals of the Championship Round
and highlighted Joey's successful pitching throughout the week-long
tournament.
The World Series Tournament was host to teams from Massachusetts,
Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and Ohio at USA Stadium, the home
of USA Baseball and former USA Olympic Baseball training site from 1986
through 1996. USA Stadium has hosted over 300 players who played Major
League Baseball. Twenty-six National Championships have been decided at
USA Stadium and more than 40,000 different college, high school,
foreign and Olympic players have played at USA Stadium in Millington.

Spartans Fall at Massie!!
The Spartan football team was defeated at Massie last Friday in the annual Battle for the Paddle. Massie was able to control the line of scrimmage and rack up over 500 rushing on the Spartan defense. This runs the series with Massie to 24 - 20 and 3 ties in favor of Massie. Waynesville will be in action tonight at home vs Dayton Christian at 7:30. Next Friday the Spartans will open league play at Home with Carlisle.
Goodwill Drive to Victory Oct 18th to 22nd vs Milton Union!!!!!
The Touchdown 7 Goodwill Drive to Victory will be the week of the Milton Union game. Save all of your clothing and Household items to load in the truck beginning on October 18th. We defeated Oakwood last year with over 4,000 lbs of items collected. Vehicles that you may need to get rid of are also excepted.
Lady Golfers Looking Strong!
The Lady Spartans began the week by traveling to Wilmington to play Clinton Massie and Lebanon at the Elks Golf Course. The Spartans were leading both teams in the tri-match when a strong thunderstorm hit the area and cancelled the rest of the round. Rachel Johnson was the only golfer that had finished the course and tied her season low with a 48. Katie Storer, Cory Nichols, Briana James and Kayla Theis were all on course to shoot in the 40's as well! The match unfortunately went down as a practice since all golfers weren't able to finish. On Wednesday, the Spartans hosted Fenwick at Holly Hills and defeated the Falcons by a score of 216-224. Cory Nichols was low medalist for both teams by shooting a 51. Katie Storer and Briana James both came in with a 52. Tori Peters, playing the 6th position at the last moment, also shot her best score of the year and is showing really nice improvement in her swing. The Spartans will be on the road next week, playing Fairmont on Monday and Valley View on Tuesday. Good Luck Spartans and Keep Up the Good Work!
Lady Spartans split week!!!
The Spartan volleyball team defeated Northridge on Tuesday. Hilary Rains had 17 assists and 7 aces, Danielle Ooten had 13 kills and 2 blocks, Calli Dahnke also chalked up 2 blocks, while Kasey Parrish added 7 digs. Thursday the team traveled to Milton Union. They were defeated by the Bulldogs. LaCee Allen had 5 kills, Danielle Ooten had 2 blocks and 4 digs, and Kasey Parrish had 4 digs as well.
The team will be traveling to Little Miami Monday for a tri-match, head to Madison on Tuesday, and then host Carlisle at home on Thursday.
Cross Country showing improvement!!!!
The cross country teams ran at the Fairborn Invitational on Wed. of this week. 15 of the 18 teams were Div. I school and the Spartans held their own against this tough competition. In the women's race Shelby Cook lead the team with a very impressive 4th place finish. She was followed by Molli Muterspaw in 24th and Leighanne Dyer in 35th out of 122 runners. The men's team finished in a very respectable 6th place, lead by Cade lowing in 11th and followed by Spencer Wells in 27th, Joe Feldmann in 38th, Evan Parish in 57th , Kurtis Sexton in 89th and in his first race Andrew Hammil in105th out of 200 runners. In the JH girls race Jamie Reeves and Emily Gill placed 25th and 27th out of 112 girls and for the JH boys Dustin Baker lead the way with a 42nd place finish followed by Logan Fruhwirth in 68th, Marshall Dutton in 72nd and Luke Paxson in 73rd out of 145 runners. The teams will all travel to Wilmington next Tuesday for their next race. Good luck to all!
Boys Golf finishes the week 3-0!!!
The Spartans began the week with a Victory at Holly Hills Golf Course over Clinton Massie by a score of 169-176. Derek Vostad led the way with a 41 followed by Andrew Valiquette's 41.
After the victory over Massie, Waynesville travelled to Milton Union and defeated the Bulldogs by a score of 174-186. The Spartans were led by Derek Vostad's 40 and Jordan Deters's score of 42.
On Thursday, the Spartans took on the Madison Mohawks and came away with a 164-185. Matt Fuller led the Spartans shooting a 38, followed by Derek Vostad's score of 40.
The Spartans are now 8-1 on the season in Dual matches and coming up on the last week of the season, they are now 4-0 in the Buckeye division with matches against Preble Shawnee and Carlisle left in the league.
Lady Spartans Soccer keeps Rolling!!!!!
The Lady Spartans Soccer team defeated Northridge and Milton Union in league play this week to run their record to 5-0. The team will be in action next Tuesday in a key league battle with Madison at Madison at 7:00. Reserve match will be at 5:30. The team will then be home with Carlisle on Thursday with reserve at 5:30 and Varsity at 7. The team will close out the week at Little Miami on Saturday with reserve at 10:00a.m. and Varsity at 12:00.
Boys Soccer wins two!!!!
The Boys Soccer team defeated Little Miami and Milton Union this past week. The team remains at the top of the league standings with Madison coming to town on Tuesday. The team will play Xenia Christian on Monday at home at 6:00 and then come back on Tuesday with Madison also Varsity only at 6:00.
Lady Spartan Tennis wins 2 of 3 for week!!!
The Lady Spartan Tennis team lost to Oakwood on Tuesday and came back with wins over Sidney and Madison to remain in contention for the league title with Milton Union. The team will have four matches next week at Bellbrook, at Miami Valley and then home with CJ and Preble Shawnee.

Dahnke and Cornett headed for State!!!!!!
Jessica Dahnke and Kevin Cornett both qualified for the State Track meet in Columbus next weekend in the Discus throw. Jessica threw 116 ft on her first throw and finished second. Kevin made it on his final attempt. Fourth place was 139 ft 1 inch and on his last throw Kevin threw 139 ft 3 inches to finish fourth and qualify for the State meet.
Seth Millar will be trying to join them on Saturday in the 100 meter dash.

Physicals big success
A big Thank You goes out to Dr John Murphy III and Dr John Murphy IV for conducting our physicals last Wednesday. We had over 135 athletes take their physicals on Wednesday. Also a big thank you to the Waynesville Life Squad for helping with Blood pressures and DSMI and Cindy Gabbard helping out.
Youth Basketball Camp June 14, 15 and 16!!!!!
New Boys Basketball Coach Todd Cook and Tim Gabbard will be holding a youth basketball camp for all students in current grades 2 thru 7. The camp will be from 8:30a.m to 12 each day. Cost is $45 pre-registration and $50 at the door. Congratulations to All of the Athletic programs on winning the -All Sports Championship this season. Waynesville has now won the award 7 out of the nine years we have been in the SWBL and 2nd the other 2 years.
Waynesville had first place finishes in Girls Cross Country, Football, Boys Golf, Girls Soccer, Boys and Girls Tennis, Boys and Girls Swimming. Second place finishes were in Boys Cross Country, Boys Soccer, Volleyball, Girls Basketball, Softball and Girls Track.

Physicals May 26th!!!!!!
Next Wednesday May 26th Dr Murphy will again be conducting physicals for all of the Waynesville students that will be participating in sports next school year. Middle School will be for 2:45 to 3:30 and High School will be from 3:30 to 4:30 in the High School gym. Cost is $20 and no insurance cards will be accepted. If students have not picked up a packet they may do so in the High School or Middle School offices.
Basketball Youth Camp now for Boys and Girls!!!!
The Waynesville youth basketball camp for all boys and girls in current grades 2 thru 7 will be held on June 14th -16th from 8:30a.m to 12. Cost is $45 pre-registration and $50 the day of the camp. Brochures are available in the elementary form Coach Cook and in the Middle School office.
