Principal's Message
Principal’s Message – February 3, 2012
Welcome to February! Without question this winter has seemed more like spring. We welcome the additional instructional time and limited disruption to quality teaching and learning.
A key element to the Middle School teaching and learning process is your ongoing efforts to communicate with and work closely with your child's teacher. Teachers especially need your continued support as you monitor your child's academic growth during the remaining weeks of school. It is hard for me to believe, however third quarter mid-term reports will be sent home on Friday, February 17, 2012. Please take time to review the progress of your child with him/her and use this opportunity to gauge his/her effort and achievement thus far this year. Compliment your child where it is warranted and consult your child’s teacher if questions need answering. Working together, you and your child's teacher will make a difference for your child and enhance his/her potential to succeed.
Below I have listed some dates that you may need to list in your calendar…
Wednesday, February 8th – We will be taking group pictures.
Good Luck! To our basketball and wrestling teams as they begin SWBL tournament play this weekend.
Winter Sports Awards Program will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16th. We will begin in the WMS gym with our scholar-athlete awards for all of our teams and then we will break down by team for separate team awards.
Fifth Grade Parent Orientation will be held on Thursday, February 23rd beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the middle school cafeteria. The orientation will be led by Mrs. Tammy Burchfield, WMS guidance counselor, and provide good information about the middle school scheduling process. The meeting should last between 30 and 45 minutes
IOWA testing for the 7th graders will be held over two days. The first day for testing is on Friday, February 17th and the second day will be on Thursday, February 24th .
Third Quarter mid-term reports will be sent home with each student on Friday, February 17h.
Monday, February 20th is Presidents’ Day and there is no school in observance of the federal holiday.
Early March Date to Note
Parent-teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, March 1st from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. here at the school. Please call the office at 897-4706 to schedule a time to meet with your child’s teachers.
