WAYNESVILLE ELEMENTARY TEACHERS GO BACK TO SCHOOL
On Thursday, August 19 all elementary teachers attended two workshops to prepare them for the 2010-11 school year. A new district-wide initiative for the school year is the application of the COLLINS WRITING PROGRAM in all content areas. The purpose is to engage students in writing answers that they would typically ‘say' in class. The program focuses on thinking skills, engages students in higher levels of thinking, and increases productivity. It also promotes rigor by developing intellectual curiosity. Students will be introduced to the 5 types of writing and focus correction areas. This initiative is directly linked to our district goals and focus. We want to thank these teachers for going to the workshop and training our teachers: Amanda Johnson, Stacy Keeton, Amanda Schuler, Michelle Denier, and Marsha Kaforey.
