On Friday December 2, 2011, the students of Waynesville Middle School gained information from many local professionals to help answer the question “What do I want to be when I grow up?”

Mrs. Burchfield, our guidance counselor, coordinated with local professionals that would be willing to spend some time with our students to explain what does it take to do certain jobs. The students were able to choose five careers to learn about and spent 30 minutes engaged in listening, asking questions and in some cases demonstrating some of the skills necessary to complete the job. Through these experiences students were able to make some connections on how their day to day studies can lead to the various careers available.
