Two WCCC students attended the SkillsUSA Regional Officer Training Leadership Conference in Washington DC recently. Gade Abrams, Waynesville, SW Region Historian and a senior in the Electricity program, placed first in Individual Prepared Speech and also shared a first place award in Opening and Closing Ceremony with a team that included Cosmetology senior and SW Region President Hannah Bergeron, Springboro.

Gade plans to pursue additional training in the electrical field after graduation. He is currently working with his instructor, Rick Centers, on early job placement for second semester. Hannah plans to work in the cosmetology field while pursuing further education in theater arts. She is interested in the costuming, hair and makeup areas in theater.

The students were accompanied by WCCC Instructor Virgil Neal, who serves as a state advisor for SkillsUSA. While in Washington, the students talked about CTE opportunities with senators and representatives, and received leadership training from national SkillsUSA staff.
