If your child turns 5 on or before September 30, 2010, you are invited to register your child for kindergarten at the Waynesville Elementary School office.

 

Please bring the following documents that are required for enrolling your child (your child does not need to be present):

· Child's OFFICIAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE (from the Bureau of Vital Statistics). We cannot accept the child's hospital record.

· Child's SOCIAL SECURITY CARD

On Tuesday, April 13, Supt. Pat Dubbs presented Third Grade teacher, Heidi Berardinis, and MS Language Arts teacher, Meghan Philpot, with flowers and a balloon to recognize them as the 2010 "Project Excellence" award winners at Wayne Local Schools.

 

Christopher Poole, an 8th grade student at Waynesville Middle School, has advanced to the state Power of the Pen Writing Competition on May 20 & 21 at the College of Wooster.

Chris advanced to the state competition through his creative writing, at both the district and regional competitions, during the 2009-2010 school year. Chris was part of the 8th Grade Power of the Pen Team, coached by Ms. Wilcox, 8th Grade Language Arts teacher. Mr. Hamen, 10th grade English teacher and former Power of the Pen winner, also helped the Power of the Pen team prepare for competition.

Over the Easter Break Township employees in conjunction with Warren County Assistance worked hard to re-mulch our playground areas. We thank all of you for your efforts. We appreciate the work of Randy, Scott, Kurt, Gus and Wayne Local School Board member Tim Patton for a job well done!

All 130 5th grade students graduated from DARE, a program sponsored by the Warren County Sheriff's office, taught by Deputy Benny Dunaway. DARE stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education.  Dignitaries attending the ceremony were Sgt. Renee Larson, Captain Barry Riley, Chief John Newsom, Waynesville Chief Gary Copeland, and Waynesville Mayor, Earl Isaacs.  Essay winners included Bruce Allen, Parker Boring, Mason Callahan, Adyson Camp, Sarah Jones, Megan Jordan, Austin Lamb, Reagan Metzler, Haley Price, and Skylar Staley.  Leading the Pledge of Allegiance were Mikayla Schmidt and Jake Van Atta.
