General Q & A

Q:  If my student opts for VLA, can they still participate in sports?
A:  Yes, students may participate in sports with either in-person learning or VLA.


Q:  Regarding transportation, can I list more than one location for pick up and drop off?
A:  At this time, we are ony accepting one location.


Q: Will students be permitted to use personal electronic cooling devices, such as battery operated misting fans or cooling electronic neckwear devices?
 No, these devices will not be permitted.


Q:  Will students be required to wear face coverings 100% of the time while at school?
A:  In accordance with Governor DeWine's urging based on recommendations from the Ohio Children's Hospital Association and the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and as written in the Wayne Local School District Responsible Restart Plan (released July 31, 2020,)...

Students:  Wearing a face covering is required when entering, exiting, or moving around the room. Based on the State’s 4 tiered alert system, face covering requirements will be fluid. Yellow and Orange levels, students may remove their face covering while seated in their desk, not working in close proximity to peers or a staff member. At Red level, students Grades 3 -12 will keep their face covering on at their desk and be given a covering break every 15 minutes. Grades PK - 2 will use modified “Red” level face covering protocol with enhanced distancing protocol.


Q:  When will details regarding Preschool Plans be released?
A:   Preschool remains on hold until restrictions have not been removed.  We anticipate more information soon and we will update you as soon as we learn more.


Q:  If Wayne Local goes remote prior to the start of school, and I have selected the VLA option for my student, will my student still be committed to VLA?
A:  Yes.


Q:  Why is there a $50 associated fee with the VLA program?
A:  Students enrolled in VLA are still enrolled as Wayne Local students.  We have added costs to offer this program, and with all offerings we do charge fees. 


Q:  How is the Cares Act funding being used?
A:  In terms of the Cares Act, we will spend much more that the small amount of $64,405 that we will receive. In addition we lost a significant amount of state aid in the 2019-2020 and in 2020-2021 school years.
