Tuesday, the Spartans faced off with the Dixie Greyhounds in Northmont. The game had been a battle early on with both teams being evenly matched for the most part.  Both teams continued to battle for every point going into the second half. The second half saw largely more of the same with Waynesville playing their hardest fighting for every point and eventually made it to overtime after an exciting four quarters. Ultimately the Spartans fell to the Greyhounds despite their best efforts and ended the game in a final score of 45-56 resulting in a stinging Waynesville loss and end to their season.

On Tuesday, the Spartans went head to head with the Arcanum Trojans on the road in round one of the OHSAA tournament. The game had been a bit of a battle early on with both teams going point for point for the majority of the first quarter. The Spartans lead the game into the second half with a score of 33-20. In the second half Arcanum attempted to come back in with a decent performance in 3rd but could not hold on to their momentum as the Spartans quickly took control of the game back and ultimately won in a final score of 58-41.  The boys will play again Tuesday night 7:30pm at Northmont High School.

On Tuesday, the Spartans took on the Oakwood Lumberjacks at home. The beginning of the game saw the Spartans struggling to keep up with the Lumberjacks, who had played dominantly and took an early lead with the first half going in favor of  Oakwood with a score of 24-15. The second half looked to be more of the same for the Spartans as the Lumberjacks had continued to push their lead while keeping the Spartans more or less out of the  game. This all proved too much for the Spartans to handle as they fell to Oakwood in a final score of 32-51 resulting in a Spartans loss.

On Friday, the Spartans went head to head with  the Bellbrook Golden Eagles at home. The game had been a battle early on with both teams being evenly matched for the most part with both teams going point for point for the majority of the game with Bellbrook battling their way into the second half with a score of 30-31. The second half saw largely more of the same with Waynesville playing their hardest fighting for every point had eventually outscored Carlisle in the third quarter but to no avail as Bellbrook responded and won the game with a final score of 64-65 resulting in a stinging Spartan loss.

On Tuesday, night the Spartans took on the Madison Mohawks at home.  The Spartans also hosted youth night at the game honoring are youngest Spartan Basketball Players.  The team did fall short losing to Madison 57-44.

Last Friday, the Spartans stung the Monroe Hornets off the court at home. Waynesville had captured a close lead in the first quarter with the Hornets barely keeping up with the Spartans on both sides of the court. The second period saw a decline in scoring for both teams, however the Spartans maintained their lead going into the second half. Coming out of the half Waynesville had continued stretching their lead with little resistance from the Hornets. This all proved to be too much for Monroe to handle with the Spartans defeating the Hornets in a final score of 52-35.

On Friday, December 30th, the Spartans faced off against the Blanchester Wildcats at home. Early on, Waynesville had captured the lead giving virtually no chance for Blanchester to score, struggling to keep up with the Spartans’ in every way. The Spartans maintained their lead and momentum for the entirety of the game and continued to keep Blanchester off the scoreboard.  Ultimately the Spartans toppled the Wild cats with a final score of 69-20.
 
On Tuesday, January 3rd, the Spartans took on the Dayton Christian Warriors at home. The game had been a battle early on with both teams being evenly matched for the most part with both teams going point for point for the majority of the game. The Spartans kept a close lead going into the second half which proved to be a bigger battle than the first half with both teams putting on impressive performances on both sides of the ball. The game ultimately ended with the Spartans winning with a final score of 70-68.

On Friday, the Spartans faced off against the Eaton Eagles at home. Early on the game turned into a battle with Eaton gaining the upper hand with an early lead after they had barely outscored the Spartans in the first quarter. This would not last however because the Spartans answered them back by taking the game into the second half with a score of 25-23 in favor of Waynesville. Coming out of halftime the Spartans continued their pressure in a low scoring third quarter. Eaton had finally tried to make an ultimately ill-fated comeback and ended the game with a final score of 42-41 resulting in a Spartans Win.
 
On Tuesday the Spartans sought to chop the Oakwood Lumberjacks on the road. Early on Oakwood took the lead while Waynesville trailed behind, fighting for every shot they could get off. The game had remained the same going into the second half with Oakwood leading by a considerable margin with a score of 30-20. Coming out of halftime the Spartans adjusted and tried to crawl out of their deficit but it would ultimately not be enough, losing to Oakwood in a final score of 58-46.

Update:  Posted Dec. 13th

Last Friday, the Spartans took to the road against the Carlisle Indians. The beginning of the game saw the Spartans struggling to keep up with the Indians, who had dominated the game extremely early on with the first half going in favor of Carlisle with a score of 17-28. The second half saw largely more of the same with Waynesville playing their hardest despite Carlisle’s dominance and lead and had eventually outscored Carlisle in the fourth quarter but to no avail as Carlisle won the game with a final score of 45-64 resulting in a Spartan loss.
 
On Tuesday the Spartans played the Legacy Christian Knights at home. Waynesville had captured the early lead and remained dominant throughout the first half with Legacy Christian struggling to keep up with Waynesville’s amazing offensive production and ended the first half with a score of 46-23. Coming into the second half Waynesville had continued to dominate the game leaving virtually no hope for the Knights. The Spartans ultimately won with a final score of 85-52.

Update:  Posted Dec. 2nd

In the season opener, the Spartans sought to fly away with the win on the road against the Clinton Massie Falcons. The two teams butted heads early on with the Falcons putting up a decent fight against the Spartans. Clinton Massie buckled under the pressure of The Spartans and went into halftime with a score of 34-19.  In the second half Massie had attempted a comeback in the third quarter however it was short lived as The Spartans ultimately won with a final score of 61-52.
 
On Tuesday, the Spartans faced off against the Brookville Blue Devils at home. In typical Spartans fashion they came out of the gate ready to win, although they were met with some resistance it dissipated in the second quarter with the Spartans carrying it into halftime with a score of 19-32 in favor of Waynesville. Coming out of halftime the Spartans continued their rampage with Brookville occasionally answering back and ended the game with a final score of 43-62 resulting in a Spartans win.
