Community Input Sought on Grant Funding

Wayne Local Schools will hold a public meeting on the use of Federal funds on May 6, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. in the Board Room, located at 625 Dayton Road, Waynesville, OH 45068.

The district receives funds through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) via the Consolidated Continuous Improvement Plan (CCIP) that are called Title funds or Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) funds. Monies received through these funds are used to provide financial assistance to the district and schools with high percentages of children from low-income families to make sure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. Monies are also received through IDEA-B (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and are used to provide special education services to students with identified disabilities, ages 3-21.

The district welcomes the general public and parents/guardians of the children enrolled to provide input regarding the use of these funds at the meeting. Comments may also be sent to Carolyn Huber, Treasurer (email: chuber@waynelocal.net), or Kevin Wright, Director of Student Services and Special Education (email: kwright@waynelocal.net).

Child Find Notice

Wayne Local School District follows the state and federal guidelines for the process of locating, evaluating, and identifying children with disabilities, birth through 21 years of age, who may be in need of special education and related services.

For infants and toddlers, a disability means that a child has a delay in one or more of the following developmental areas: adaptive behavior, cognition, communication, physical development, vision, hearing, and/or social-emotional functioning.

For preschoolers and school-age children, a disability means having one or more conditions defined by federal regulations and state standards. These disabilities include: autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability, deaf-blindness, deafness, emotional disturbance, hearing impairment, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury, visual impairment (including blindness), and developmental delay. If you know a child who may have a disability, please contact the Office of Student Services at (513) 513-897-6971.

The school district will contact the child's parent/guardian to discuss the next steps in the evaluation and identification process. This process is provided at no cost to the family. If a need is identified, the child can begin receiving free and appropriate special education and related services.
