The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce has released the 2025-26 Ohio School Report Cards, and Wayne Local Schools earned an overall 4.5-star rating.

The district’s 4.5-star rating reflects strong performance across Wayne Local Schools and the continued dedication of students and staff. While slightly lower than last year’s 5-star rating, it remains a strong result and provides valuable direction for continued student growth and success.

At the building level, Waynesville High School earned 5 stars; Waynesville Elementary School earned 5 stars; and Waynesville Middle School earned 4 stars, an improvement from 3.5 stars last year. Those results are worth recognizing and celebrating.

Superintendent Dr. Sam Ison said, “Wayne Local Schools knows its goal is to be a 5-star district and will not shy away from areas that need improvement.” The report card provides valuable information about student performance and growth, and the district will use that information to continue improving.

As Wayne Local Schools moves forward, its focus will include:

  • Increasing staff awareness and understanding of value-added and student growth.
  • Continuing to strengthen the use of assessment data to identify student needs and monitor growth throughout the school year.
  • Providing students with greater familiarity with the academic vocabulary and types of questions they may encounter on state assessments.
  • Strengthening our use of diagnostic assessments and regular progress monitoring.
  • Continuing to develop and refine instruction and intervention to address individual student needs.
  • Using data to ensure our instruction and interventions focus on helping every student make meaningful growth.

Dr. Ison added, “Relationships First, Relevance, and Rigor remain at the heart of the district’s work. We will build on what the district already does well, learn from the data, and make thoughtful adjustments where they can have the greatest impact on student learning. There is a great deal to be proud of at Wayne Local Schools.”

“As the district moves forward, the focus remains on relationships and -You Belong-, while working together to help every student reach their full potential.”

More information about the district’s results and Ohio School Report Cards is available through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
