Waynesville High School is extremely proud of our students and staff who donate blood because blood donation is a selfless act.  They are saving 3 lives with each donation, and this fall, we are able to help save 84 individuals.  We also had an impressive 15 first time donors!!

Blood cannot be manufactured and is needed every 2 seconds!! ....And 1 in 7 people who enter a hospital need blood. Plus, only 37% of the population are even able to give blood, so the scheduled blood donations at WHS are ways for us to give to others.  These students and staff who donated are helping to save lives and forming a habit of lifelong donation.

The High School Student Council, in coordination with the Community Blood Center, help organize the event, which is held twice every year.

Pictures below are images from the drive, where students wait their turn, enjoy some chill time on cots while their blood is drawn, and then hang out with friends while snacking on cookies and juice afterwards.

The next blood drive will be held on Monday, March 11.  Please mark your calendars now.

In coordination with the Community Blood Center, the High School Student Council will be hosting the Semi-Annual Blood Drive on September 24th in the high school gym.

Why give blood?

  • Blood is needed every 2 seconds, and 1 in 7 people who enter a hospital need blood.  Blood cannot be manufactured, and only 37% of the population is eligible.  So this effort, habit and attitude that we are helping to form and shape is contributing to a lifetime of giving back.

Students age 16 years or older are eligible. Graduating seniors with a minimum of 3 lifetime donations will be recognized with the distinction of a red cord at graduation.
