Two-way Communication

Open communication between our schools, families, and community is essential for building strong, successful relationships. The school–home connection is about more than tracking academic progress; it’s about partnering to bridge the two most important environments in a child’s life. When we keep families informed, share district news, and celebrate student and staff achievements, we strengthen trust, deepen connection, and reinforce a shared sense of purpose: supporting every student's success.

Communication Channels

There are several ways to stay informed about what's happening at school:

  • Newsletters from our schools, athletics, and the district (The Spartan)

  • Waynesville Community Events & Activities Newsletter

  • Board of Education Meeting Recap

  • Wayne Local Schools Website

  • Follow us on Social Media - WLS Facebook and WLS Instagram

  • ParentSquare app (2-way communication tool)

ParentSquare

Wayne Local Schools uses a communication platform called ParentSquare to keep parents and guardians informed and encourage greater engagement and connection with our district, schools, teachers, coaches, and more. It provides a safe way for district administrators, school principals, teachers, staff, students, and parents to:

  • Receive messages from the school via email, text, or app notification
  • Choose to receive information as it comes or all at once with a daily digest at 6 p.m.
  • Communicate in your preferred language
  • Direct message teachers, staff, and other parents
  • Participate in group messages
  • Sign up for parent-teacher conferences
  • Sign forms and permission slips, sign up to volunteer, and more, all from your desktop or mobile device

Parents and guardians are automatically added to ParentSquare from contact information entered in FinalForms.

Manage Your ParentSquare Account

All district and school, grade-level, and classroom information will now be sent to your computer or phone via email and/or text using ParentSquare. An account has already been created for you using the guardian information found in your student’s FinalForms account, and you will receive email and text message notifications through your ParentSquare account. For even more convenience, you can download the ParentSquare app (available for free for Apple and Android devices) and opt to receive messages using the app.

We encourage you to register your ParentSquare account by visiting ParentSquare and entering the email address or phone number you have on file in FinalForms to take advantage of additional features such as two-way communication with your student’s teacher and school, signing permission slips, RSVP for events, and customizing your message delivery methods.

If you do not activate your account and adjust your settings, you will receive all non-critical notifications in a digest format, meaning all messages will be sent at 6 p.m. and will be sent in English. If you would like to receive the messages at the time they are sent, and/or translate them into another language, you will need to adjust the settings in your account. If using the translation service, please note that all messages you send to district staff will be automatically translated to the recipient’s preferred language.
