Operation Football

From WDTN:  WAYNESVILLE (WDTN) – On a five game winning streak and ranked 8th in the State, the Waynesville Spartans earn the Operation Football Team of the Week honor.

The Waynesville Spartans beat Dixie 70-14 Friday night in the Channel 2 Operation Football Game of the Week.  Offensively, the Spartans had 521 yards of offense and 8 different players found the end zone.  The game served as the annual Spielman Foundation Breast Cancer Awareness game.  In a combined effort, the football team and cheerleaders raised 2000 dollars to donate to a local resident currently fighting this disease.  We are proud of the efforts of both teams to raise awareness for this cause and to support one of our own in the process. 

As  Friday night is approaching, we are getting excited because this week's Waynesville football game has been named as “WDTN Operation Football Game of the Week”!

There are two sponsors that have partnered with WDTN.... Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken and Sinclair Community College.  Each sponsor and WDTN will have an information table at the football game starting at 4:30.  There will be a prize wheel with tons of WDTN merchandise to give away!  Sinclair will be giving away sunglasses, sweatshirts, t shirts, earbuds and college information. Lee’s will be giving away small samples of their spicy double dippers and they will also host a live, on-air sports trivia contest between one Waynesville Faculty Member and one Student. The winner of the contest will receive a family catering pack from Lee’s!
