Spartan Swim Rock It at the State Swimming and Diving Championships!

Spartan Swimmers Rock It at the State Swimming and Diving Championships! A team of 8 swimmers, the largest contingent ever in the history of Spartan swimming, traveled to Canton, Ohio to participate in the state championships. Kierstyn Cassidy started the team off with a 7th place finish in the 200 Freestyle and a come from behind 5th place finish in the 500 Freestyle. The girls 200 Free relay team (Parks, Meredith, Worthington, KCassidy) placed 23rd and their 400 Free relay team placed 22nd! The boys team was led by Owen Conley who grabbed 2 state titles!! The first in the 200 Individual Medley which was also a new state record. His second title was done in an exciting race to the finish in the 500 Freestyle. The boys 400 Free Relay (Conley, Shinkle, Eshler, Kelley) team ended the finals session with a great 16th place showing! Congratulations to all the swimmers on representing Waynesville with amazing races and sportsmanship!

Spartan swimmers made a huge splash at sectionals this past weekend qualifying 9 swimmers to districts on Friday. Leading the way for the Spartans was Owen Conley and Kierstyn Cassidy both grabbing double sectional titles in their individual events. Both the girls and boys relays qualified in the 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay. District Championships are Friday the 16th at Miami University.

Update 1-9-2018:   After braving negative degree temperatures at 8am in the morning on a frozen bus the Spartan Swimmers lit up the pool at the Princeton Invitational last Saturday. Two meet records set and several personal best times heated up the day. Leading the way, Kierstyn Cassidy snagged two individual wins with one in meet record fashion in the 500 freestyle. Owen Conley followed shortly after grabbing a win and meet record in the 100 backstroke! Congratulations to both swimmers and the team!Next meet is the largest high school meet of the season with over 2,500 swimmers competing in 9 different facilities over two days!
