Teacher Appreciation Week

Appreciation goes out to each of the school staff members who give their “all” throughout the school year.  In May, the following days/weeks are recognized as staff appreciation days.  The outstanding work that they do make a difference and the dedication, commitment, selflessness, and devotion to our students prepare them for a successful future.  A huge THANK YOU to all of our staff members not only in May, but every day.  School Bus Driver Appreciation Day (May 6) National Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6 – May 10) Teacher Appreciation Day (May 7) School Nutrition Employee Appreciation (May 6 – May 10) National School Nurse’s Day (May 8) Custodian Appreciation Week (May 13 – May 17) All Wayne Local School Staff Members and Board of Education Members were invited to a Staff Appreciation Celebration on Wednesday, May 8th at Rolling Meadows Ranch.  Staff members received nominations from co-workers based on our five core values: Citizenship Integrity Service Academics Excellence Congratulations to the following well-deserving staff members who received these awards for their exemplary service at Wayne Local Schools:

EXCELLENCE AWARD - ANGIE COMER (Middle School Intervention Specialist)

JARED CANTU (Intervention Specialist and Peers Program) Jared Cantu received an award for the "Peers Program."    The Supportive Peers is a program where high school students are placed in K-12 classrooms to assist students who have exceptional needs.  They often work with our younger learners.  The peers are chosen through an application process.  They attend mandatory training related to the classroom and/or student(s) to whom they are assigned.    Supportive Peers is a Win-Win!  The benefits of Supportive Peers are: The programs helps to strengthen the sense of community among our students.  Typical peers interact positively with students with disabilities.  Students who participate become life-long advocates for others.  The program supports students with special needs in our district and our young learners.
