Volleyball Wins First Tournament Match, Plays Again Saturday!  

The Varsity Volleyball Team traveled to Blanchester to play their first Sectional match against Aiken on Wednesday.  They won in 3 sets, 25-5, 25-14, and 25-8.  Stat leaders were Kayla Bakker with 4 kills, Dora Vrettos with 15 assists, and Kenna Harvey with 13 aces. 

The Volleyball team will play Riverview East Academy on Saturday at 4:00 at Blanchester. 

VOLLEYBALL CLINCHES LEAGUE TITLE!  Varsity Undefeated in SWBL Buckeye Division! JV 11-1 in SWBL!  

The Volleyball teams hosted Carlisle on Tuesday in their last home match of the season.  It was a clean sweep for both teams.  JV won 25-13, 25-13.  Leading the Spartans were Jenna Turner with 8 aces and 6 assists, Anna Hapner with 5 kills, and Kiersten Williams with 3 digs.  The Varsity match scores were 25-13, 25-16, 25-20.  It was the final time playing on their home court for Seniors Corinne Lezotte, Ashton Rice, Emma Seidenschmidt, and Dora Vrettos, and the Victory over the Indians, clinching the SWBL Buckeye Division League Champion Title, topped it off!  Stat leaders were Dora Vrettos with 5 aces and 12 assists, Reagan Blanton with 11 kills and 2 blocks, Ashton Rice and Kenna Harvey with 7 digs each, and Lydia Vrettos added 7 digs, 11 assists, 4 aces. 

  Thursday was Volleyball’s last regular season match at Dixie with both teams bringing home victories.  JV won 25-22, 25-20.  Leading the stats were Peyton Stiles with 4 aces, Fallon Bradford with 7 kills, Jenna Turner with 11 assists, and Emma Williams with 6 digs.  Varsity won in 4 sets, 23-25, 25-17, 25-12, and 26-24.  Stat leaders were Lydia Vrettos with 5 aces and 12 assists, Megan Zebell with 9 kills and 5 blocks, Reagan Blanton with 7 kills and 6 blocks, Kenzie Purkey with 9 kills, and Kenna Harvey with 22 digs.   

JV finished the regular season with a 16-5 (11-1) record, while Varsity finished 18-4 (12-0).  

Varsity will play their first Sectional Tournament match versus Aiken on Wednesday Oct. 18 at 5:00 at Blanchester High School.  Admission is $6.

Update:  10-6-17:  Both Varsity and JV VOLLEYBALL go 3-0 on the week!!  

Monday, the Spartan volleyball teams traveled to Preble Shawnee, and tallied up 2 more league wins. The JV team defeated the Arrows 25-16, 25-19.  Stat leaders were Anna Hapner with 8 aces and 4 kills, Fallon Bradford also with 4 kills, and Jenna Turner with 6 assists. 

The Varsity team won in 3 sets, 25-14, 25-15, 25-14.  Heading the Spartan stats were Dora Vrettos with 9 aces and 14 assists, Kenzie Purkey with 8 kills, Reagan Blanton with 2 blocks, and Kenna Harvey with 13 digs. 

Tuesday, they traveled to Madison to take on the Mohawks and bring home 2 more league victories.  JV won in 2 straight sets, 25-23, 25-15.  Leading the Spartans were Anna Hapner with 6 kills and 6 digs, Fallon Bradford also with 6 kills, and Jenna Turner with 10 assists. 

Varsity started the match off slow, dropping the first 2 sets, but coming back to win the match in 5.  Scores were 19-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-11, and 15-3.  Topping the stats were Megan Zebell with 5 aces and 2 blocks, Kenzie Purkey also with 5 aces, Reagan Blanton with 25 kills and 2 blocks, Dora Vrettos with 28 assists, and Kenna Harvey with 28 digs. 

Thursday was another away match, this time at Milton Union, both teams chalking up another win.  JV won in 3 sets, 25-22, 13-25, and 25-22.  Stat leaders were Fallon Bradford with 5 aces and 5 kills, Anna Hapner with 5 kills and 6 digs, and Jenna Turner with 15 assists and 7 digs.

Varsity continued their undefeated SWBL league streak by defeating the Bulldogs in 3 sets, 25-23, 25-17, 25-17.  It was a great team effort, led by Dora Vrettos with 18 assists, Kenzie Purkey with 8 aces and 10 digs, Kenna Harvey with 14 digs, Reagan Blanton with 11 kills, and Megan Zebell with 5 blocks.

Varsity is currently 16-4 (10-0) and JV is 14-5 (9-1)!  Next week, our last home match and SENIOR night will be Tuesday against Carlisle with JV starting at 5:30.  Thursday is the last regular season match at Dixie.

VOLLEYBALL – Varsity Team leading SWBL after 1st Round! Varsity is 11-3 (6-0), JV 9-4 (5-1)

Waynesville Volleyball opened the week up with 2 losses to strong Greeneview teams.  The JV team battled, but lost in 3 close sets, 25-21, 23-25, 27-29.  Leading the Spartans were Devin Phillips with 9 aces, Jenna Turner with 8 assists and 10 digs, and Anna Hapner with 10 kills.

The Varsity team lost in 4 sets to a very scrappy Greeneview team, 16-25, 21-25, 25-14, and 22-25.  The Spartan stat leaders were Kenzie Purkey with 6 aces and 8 kills, Reagan Blanton with 9 kills, Dora Vrettos with 19 assists, Kenna Harvey with 20 digs, and Megan Zebell with 4 blocks. 

Tuesday, the Lady Spartans took on Milton Union at home.  The JV team lost a close match, 23-25, 23-25.  Jenna Turner chalked up 3 aces, 7 assists, and 7 digs while Anna Hapner added 6 kills and 2 blocks. 

The Varsity Team continued their undefeated SWBL record by giving the Bulldogs their first loss in the league.  Scores were 25-13, 26-24, 25-23.  Heading up the Spartans were Dora Vrettos with 4 aces and 25 assists, Megan Zebell with 4 aces and 14 kills, and Kenna Harvey with 19 digs.

The volleyball teams traveled to Blanchester on Wednesday and brought home wins!  JV won 25-4, 25-23.  Leading the Spartans were Anna Hapner with 7 aces, 5 kills, and 4 digs, Jenna Turner with 9 assists, and Kiersten Williams with 4 digs. 

The Varsity team won in 4 sets, 25-23. 18-25, 26-24, and 25-14.  Stat leaders were Dora Vrettos with 7 aces, 19 assists, and 15 digs, Megan Zebell with 13 kills and 5 blocks, and Kenna Harvey 25 digs and 6 aces. 

Next week, Monday is our Volley for the Cure match at home against Fairborn.  JV begins at 5:30 with Varsity following.  Tuesday we travel to Northridge, and Thursday to Valley View.

VARSITY VOLLEYBALL 9-2 (5-0), JV VOLLEYBALL 8-2 (5-0)

  The volleyball teams traveled to Bellbrook on Monday, both suffering losses against strong opponents.  The JV lost 7-25, 11-25.  Stat leaders for the Spartans were Anna Hapner with 2 aces, Morgan Miller and Kiersten Williams with 3 digs each, and Jenna Turner with 2 kills.

The Varsity team lost in 3, 17-25, 17-25, and 9-25.  Heading the Spartan stats were Dora Vrettos with 5 assists, 9 digs, and 2 blocks; Megan Zebell with 10 digs and 3 kills, and Reagan Blanton with 4 kills and 2 blocks. 

  Tuesday, we hosted Preble Shawnee, and snagged 2 more in the win category.  JV defeated the Arrows in 3 sets, 25-8, 19-25, and 25-22.  Jenna Turner chalked up 7 aces, 13 assists, and 5 digs while Anna Hapner had 8 kills and 5 digs. 

The Varsity team defeated Preble in 4 sets, 23-25, 25-13, 25-18, and 25-21.  Dora Vrettos had 5 aces, 14 assists, 10 kills, and 11 digs; Megan Zebell added 3 blocks, and Kenzie Purkey and Lydia Vrettos added 10 digs each.   

Update  9-15

In the final match of the week, the teams hosted Madison and added 2 more victories in clean sweeps.  The JV team won 25-12, 25-19.  Topping the stats were Jenna Turner with 6 aces and 3 digs, Fallon Bradford and D’Laney Lezotte with 4 kills each, Lucy Krumholtz had 8 assists, and Emma Williams and Sarah Hartman each added 3 digs.

The Varsity team defeated the Mohawks 25-22, 25-20, 25-18.  Leading the Spartans were Dora Vrettos with 5 aces and 19 assists, Reagan Blanton with 11 kills, Megan Zebell with 10 kills, 4 aces, and 1 block, and Kenna Harvey had 18 digs. 

Next week the Lady Spartans host Greeneview on Monday, Milton-Union on Tuesday, and then travel to Blanchester on Wednesday.

VARSITY VOLLEYBALL WINS 2 THIS WEEK, JV VOLLEYBALL SPLITS THE WEEK  

On Wednesday this week, our volleyball teams hosted strong Clinton Massie teams.  The JV team came up against the Falcons with a few too many errors, experiencing their first loss of the season in 2 sets, 22-25, 17-25.  Stat leaders for the Spartans were Anna Hapner with 2 aces and 7 kills, Peyton Stiles also with 2 aces, Jenna Turner with 7 assists, and Kiersten Williams with 4 digs. 

The Varsity team grabbed another win against the Falcons in 4 sets: 26-24, 17-25, 25-12, and 25-22.  Leading the stats were Dora Vrettos with 12 assists, Reagan Blanton with 10 kills and 3 blocks, Lydia Vrettos with 4 aces, and Kenna Harvey with 14 digs. 

Thursday brought a home match against Northridge.  Both teams swept the Polar Bears.  JV won 25-7 and 25-12.  Leading the Spartan stats were Jenna Turner with 9 aces and 2 assists, Anna Hapner with 8 aces, and D’Laney Lezotte with 4 kills. 

The Varsity team won in 3 quick sets, 25-9, 25-5, and 25-10.  Stat leaders were Dora Vrettos with 9 assists, Kenna Harvey with 9 aces, and Megan Zebell with 6 kills. 

The Varsity Team is currently 7-1 (3-0) and the JV Team is 6-1 (3-0).
