October is National Bullying Prevention Month
October is a time to raise awareness about bullying prevention and to promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. While bullying cannot be solved in a single month, this nationwide effort encourages schools and communities to take a stand together. At Wayne Local Schools, we are committed to creating a safe and positive environment for all students through Schoolwide Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports (PBIS). We are also implementing Sources of Strength K-12, which equips students to build strong peer networks and spread messages of hope, help, and strength, reducing the risks of bullying, substance misuse, violence, and suicide.
“Sources of Strength reminds our students that they are never alone,” said Kevin Wright, Director of Student Services and Special Education. “The program empowers students to lean on one another, celebrate their strengths, and know where to turn for help when needed, and promote kindness and inclusion, empowering them to support themselves and one another. This culture of connection is one of the most powerful tools we have to prevent bullying and foster resilience.”
